Regulations about transfer system and credit recognition
The Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 october, which establishes the organisation of official university studies (modified by Royal Decree 861/2010, of 2 july), says in his 6 article, in order to make effective the students mobility, such inside and outside of national territory, universities shall draw up and make public their regulations about the transfer system and credit recognition, with subjection to the general criteria set up in the same.
The University of Cádiz, to comply the precept, was approved the Regulation UCA/CG12/2010, of 28 june, the following is regulated by transfer system and credit recognition in official education regulated by the Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 october [Government Council Agreement of 28 june 2010 (BOUCA num. 109)] and subsequently was modified by [Government Council Agreement of 22 june 2011 (BOUCA num. 122)], in order to adapt to the new editing art. 6.º RD 1393/2007 given by RD 861/2010. Finally, the quoted Regulation recently has been modified in virtue of Regulations UCA/CG01/2014, 25 february (BOUCA num. 170, 1 april) and UCA/CG06/2014, of 17 june 2014 (BOUCA num. 173, 27 june).
TRANSFER
The credit transfer consists in including, on the official academics documents of students related to teachings in progress, all credits obtained in official courses of study taken previously, on same or other university, that have not led to the award of an official degree and that cannot be recognized in the degree to which it leads.
Modules or subjects transferred to the academic transcript of the new degrees will not be taken into account for the calculation of the transcript of records.
In cases of simultaneous studies, credits obtained in the same studies will not be subject to transfer, unless these are subject to recognition or the student renounces this simultaneity, due to abandonment of the mentioned studies.
RECOGNITION
The recognition of credits involves the acceptance by a university of credits that, having been obtained in official courses of study at the same or another university, are counted in other universities for the purposes of obtaining an official degree.
Likewise, credits taken in other university courses leading to the award of other degrees referred to in Article 34.1 of Organic Law 6/2001, of 21 December, on Universities, may also be recognised in this Master’s degree. Credits may be recognised for subjects previously taken depending on the suitability of the skills and knowledge associated with the subjects passed and those foreseen in the syllabus of the Master’s Degree in Heritage, Archaeology and Maritime History.
In the same way, accredited work and professional experience may also be recognised in the form of credits that will count towards the award of an official qualification, provided that such experience is related to the competences inherent in that qualification.
The number of credits that are subject to recognition based on professional or work experience and non-official university studies may not exceed, as a whole, 15% of the total number of credits that make up the syllabus. The recognition of these credits will not include their qualification and therefore they will not be taken into account for the purposes of the transcript of records.
In any case, credits corresponding to the Master’s Thesis may not be recognised.
