Graduate Profile
Upon completion of the Master’s Degree in Nautical and Underwater Archaeology, graduates will have acquired a range of competencies and knowledge enabling them to pursue professional careers in various fields related to heritage, particularly Underwater Cultural Heritage.
In particular, they will possess the knowledge and skills required to:
- Carry out intervention activities in Underwater Cultural Heritage as technical staff (archaeological technicians), especially in surveys, monitoring of earthworks, dredging supervision, underwater archaeological testing, and, where appropriate, excavation and recovery of materials of underwater origin.
- Apply principles of preventive conservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage. Those with prior training in heritage conservation and restoration will be qualified to undertake in situ or laboratory conservation of artefacts of underwater origin or waterlogged materials.
- Engage in activities related to the interpretation and dissemination of heritage, particularly by advising and supporting institutions interested in developing heritage routes and resources connected to Underwater Cultural Heritage within the framework of Blue Economy strategies.
- Those who have specialised in archival research will acquire specific competencies enabling them to work as technical specialists in historical documentation, including its reading, transcription, and interpretation.
Finally, graduates may also pursue further academic development through doctoral programmes, both nationally and internationally, where they will be able to deepen their expertise in specific techniques or research issues.
