Degree in English Studies – Access – Access requirements and admission criteria

The Real Decreto 1393/2007, of October 29 (BOE nº 260 30th October) includes in its article number 14 that the access to the official Degrees will require to be in possession of the Bachillerato or equivalent and to pass the test. referred to in Article number 42 of the Ley Orgánica 6/2001, of Universities, modified by Ley 4/2007, of April 12, without prejudice to the other access mechanisms provided by current regulations.

The Gabinet approved Real Decreto 1892/2008, of November 14, which regulates the access conditions to the official university Degree programs and admission procedures of Spanish public universities, being the proposal that is presented in the aforementioned Real Decreto and its development, as well as to what the regional and university regulations indicate in this regard.

In relation to the access to university education, the aforementioned Real Decreto establishes that the admission mark will be established from 60% of the average mark in Bachillerato, plus 40% of the mark of an obligatory general test (realization of three common-subjects exercises and a fourth optional-subject exercise), plus the mark obtained in a voluntary specific test (optional subjects). The mark of the specific test is established from the best combination resulting from the score obtained in two of the modalities passed, multiplied by their parameters established in the range 0.1 and 0.2.

For the admission to the Degree in English Studies, those students who have taken the general and specific tests (optional subjects) related to the knowledge of Humanities and Arts, will be preferred.
