Master´s Degree in Gender, Identity and Citizenship – Competences

GENERAL COMPETENCES

The general competences thata re supposed to be acquired by the students along the teaching of the Master have been divided in instrumental, personal and structural.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES

Regarding specific competences, they have been classifies as disciplinary, professional and research.

1. Disciplinary

 

This Master combines two specialties: one is focused towards investigation and the other is focused towards the social intervention’s field.

  1. – History of feminist thoughts
  2. – History of women and gender relations.
  3. – Principles of equal opportunities between women and men
  4. – Equality politics and legal discrimination
  5. – Techniques and analysis tools of research methodology in gender studies
  6. – Gender mainstreaming’s strategies and documents and intervention in gender studies
  7. – Job, employment and gender inequality
  8. – Immigration and multiculture through gender perspective
  9. – Feminine authorship in different cultures: plastic and visual arts and literature
  10. – Gender anthropology and sociology
  11. – Gender psichology and disability
  12. – Social and sexual gender construction

2. Professional

 

Students graduated in “Gender, Identity and Citizenship” Master’s Degree will have acquired professional competences that will prepare them to:

  1. – To detect manifestations of sexism in different fields of society for its transformation and elimination of these manifestations through the development of public and private activities.
  2. – To educate professionals on equality policies and/or to educate people to develop specific jobs with women in the knowledge and interpretaation of feminist theory and gender         perspective.
  3. – To design, manage and evaluate about:

1. policies, programmes, projects or whichever activities in the field of social intervention and/or economic that claim to include a gender perspective, or that work with a mainstreaming point of view.

2. awareness actions in the equality field.

3. positive action plans made for women comprehension development.

 

3. Research

Additionally, students graduated in “Gender, Identity and Citizenship” Master’s Degree will have acquired investigation oriented competences that will prepare them to:

  1. – To develop conceptual and methodological instruments specialized to allow to understand, analyze, deconstruct and transform the social inequalities derived from gender      identity.
  2. – To examine and analyze different disciplines that the students are going to study through a gender perspective.
  3. – To suggest research projects that, with a multidisciplinary perspective, deal with essential aspects that allow you to comprehend gender relations in the present context.
  4. – To manage social investigation techniques in work with women.
